Join Lanny and Steven, your expert photography instructors and guides, on a Four Corners Photography Adventure hosted by Road Scholar.  Based out of Kelly Place in McElmo Canyon outside Cortez, Colorado, we will discover the color and history of the southwest through the lens of your digital or phone camera.  On our journey we will capture the spectacular land formations and ancient ruins of the Four Corners region.  Each date of this adventure, you and your expert photography instructors and guides will visit unique settings designed to inspire your photographic creativity.  Your instructors will guide you in capturing stirring images of rock art, Ancestral Puebloan artifacts and dwellings, majestic mountains and sculpted red-rock canyon.  You will learn in the classroom how to make the most of your camera by attending sessions on composition, exposure, white balance, ISO, bracketing and more.

Southern New Mexico Photography Workshop

At a Glance:

Join Lanny and Steven on a five day photography adventure in Southern New Mexico.  Based out of the Ramada Inn, Las Cruces, Lanny and Steven will guide you to the best locations to capture sunrise  and sunset images of the iconic Organ Mountains, sunset images of White Sands National Monument and sunset and night images of the unique rock formations at City of Rocks State Park.  We will also take you to the historic villages of San Elizario, Texas and Mesilla Historic District, New Mexico to capture images of historic sites, buildings and culture.

Why December?  Shorter daylight hours make this time of year desirable to incorporate sunrise and sunset photography into one day with out the days being overtaxing.  Typical December weather at our Southern New Mexico locations are deep blue skies with high temperatures in the upper 50's and low temperatures in the low 30's, so prepare accordingly!

We will incorporate classroom sessions on creative image capture and composition, technical photography subjects and group photography constructive critique and image review.               

The price of this workshop includes six nights of individual room lodging at the beautiful Ramada Inn in Las Cruces, three breakfasts and three picnic lunches/dinner provided, transportation to all photography locations, and the services of two experienced photography guides who will help you create stunning images of the locations we visit.
